A Closer Look at Work from Home Websites
A Closer Look at Work from Home WebsitesThere are many websites available that allow you to work from the convenience of your own home. For many people this seems like a dream come true. You will no longer have to use your own gas, purchase work attire or have to keep a strenuous schedule. While there are ways to make money online some of the sites that claim you can earn money have a few kinks that need to be reworked first. Amazon Mechanical Turk is a site that I found and have used on a few occasions for research purposes. This site allows a “worker” which would be you to sign in and gain access to some odd jobs that pay anywhere ranging from $0. 01- $25. 00 in some cases on one job task. This might sound great but there is a down side. If you choose to try working on an easy task that will pay you $0. 08 to complete a series of mini tasks this could take some people up to thirty minutes. If you do the math you would be making $0. 16 an hour. Most people would agree that this is not time worth spent working on tasks. The site does offer some surveys and research questions that are quite lengthy and do ask personal questions but some will pay you $2. 50 to participate. This can be worthwhile if you complete several. To be successful on Amazon Mechanical Turk you have to read the assignment or job task carefully. Many of the jobs that you will do can be rejected by the person requesting the job if done incorrectly. This ultimately means that you have wasted your time once again. After spending some time researching this site and participating in several jobs I did find it beneficial and I did make a little money. I enjoy reading and writing and many of the tasks or job HIT’s as they refer to them as you to do just that. You could be asked to write a 500 word article on a specific subject. These are great for people that enjoy writing and can do so relatively quickly. I have also encountered sites such as FIVERR which allows you to post anything that you would be willing to do for $5. 00. This site can be a bit wacky but it is very different from the average online site that allows you to make money. A person can basically post an advertisement for something that they are willing to do for $5. 00. Some people offer to distribute 100 flyers in a certain location and others offer to edit or proofread 500 words for $5. 00. This can be helpful to people looking to edit papers or articles if they have the talent to do so. I tried this website and so far have not been successful but it is in its beginning stages. Sites such as Live OPS and HSN offer work from home positions. If you read the job opportunities it seems amazing. The catch to these sites is that you are required to send in all of your information to have the company determine if they will need you to work any of their shifts. In addition they ask you to pay for a background check and credit check. For most people who are desperately seeking employment their credit score might not meet the criteria. So now you are out the $50 that you spent to have this verified and you are out of a job. I have always found it amusing how there are strict credit checks in place. Wouldn’t a person who has bad credit need to have a job or make some money somehow to make their payments? If you see an advertisement for an opportunity to work from home and run your own business make sure that you read all of the fine print involved. Many times these sites are trying to get you to pay for something up front and most likely will not be able to deliver on their promise. If you do choose to work with one of these companies make sure that they are reputable. Nothing is worse than losing your much needed money while trying to find work.
